Breathing

Then the LORD God formed man of dust from the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being. – Genesis 2:7

I have been listening to scientists talk about how they can create life.  Well, they can put together the building blocks that makes up most of what life is.  However, one of the scientists admitted that they can do almost everything needed to build a life form but they cannot give it “breath.”  (I might disagree with them and say that they are just organizing the building blocks that God has made and not sure they are “creating” new building blocks, but that argument is for another time).  Without breath we are dead.  Without breath we are merely organic material.  Without breath we cannot have personality or creativity.  Breath is infused into our entire body, down to the most micro levels causing us to live.  It is such a gift and it is so beyond our abilities to comprehend or understand.  God is the giver of life and God’s simple breath gave us life.

Take a minute to breathe.  Focus on your breath and give thanks every time you breathe in for the very gift of your life.
