Daily Devotion – Breathing Out

That is what the Son of Man has done: He came to serve, not be served—and then to give away his life in exchange for the many who are held hostage. – Matthew 20:28 (The Message)

My neice, who is in the medical field, was traveling in Spain with her mother and sister.  One day they went to the beach and a man on the beach had a medical issue that required mouth to mouth.  She performed the actions necessary and saved his life.  What saved him was her willingness to be involved in the life of another and her breath that was breathed out of her body into his.

Over the past few days, we’ve talked about how God gave us breath and with it came life.  God uses the breath of the Holy Spirit to give us quality life and meaning and purpose.  Now, we learn from Christ what we are to do with our breath.  We are to use it like He did and serve the world.  Use your breath to affect the lives of others, to love others as they deserve to be loved and share your breath with the world.

Take a minute to breathe.  As you do, every time you breathe out, ask God to use you to love others as He has first loved you.
