Do Something

Mission is taking action that expresses our faith. Mission can look differently depending on where you are in your faith journey, so throughout the year, we offer a variety of missional opportunities to help you grow in your relationship with Christ.

We embrace Jesus’ mandate to love God and to love others and to make disciples of all peoples. Guided by the Holy Spirit, we seek to serve. Our motto “Do Something” is key to who we are as a congregation.

Throughout the year, our Missions Team encourages the support of local, national, and global missions. We provide support through our time, talents, and financial resources. Some of our efforts include, but are not limited to:

No More Malaria (mosquito netting)
Disaster relief
One Great Hour of Sharing
Native American Ministries
Feed My Starving Children
Marie Wilkinson
Mutual Ground
Northern Illinois Food-Bank
Local retirement and assisted living facilities
Local families

Northern Illinois Food Bank

Mission Trip

Each year, we plan mission trips to travel to areas in need, both urban and rural, to help our congregation recognize that there is need everywhere. We have people at all skill levels perform a variety of tasks. Youth from 8th grade through Adults are welcome on our traveling missions.

Mini Mission

Mini Mission is a chance to get our youngest members involved in Mission.  On the third Sunday of each month, our children along with their parents are encouraged to use their gifts to help the community. We do things that are age appropriate like making gift bags for children in need, writing thank you cards for local fire and police departments, and visiting assisted living facilities with gifts. They also assist with worship activities.

Second Harvest

In addition to your regular giving to Flowing Grace, we have an additional giving opportunity on the second Sunday of each month called Second Harvest. This is a chance to go above and beyond a regular offering and support a local food pantry. Offerings of canned and dry goods are welcome, too.
